I just joined a few days ago, and I've been feverishly reading some of the epic threads in the Eaters' Greatest Hits board. I truly bow down to you all.

This beautiful angel Linda is who brought me to Eater in the first place, so I thought I should engage with her and see what happens. It isn't too interesting yet, but I have plans for the weekend.

I regret that I have accidentally deleted the first exchange - the one where she sent out a very basic "I saw your profile and was impressed, please contact me" message. When I bit, she sent me the old Refugee Camp sob story. I must say, I was moved to tears. Razz

I am so sorry, I must sound offensive asking questions about your faith and your school. I know you have been through an incredible ordeal and I still think about your poor family. Ok, I won't respond to her again yet (I'm a busy man), but I do have a few questions about the baits.
I told her I'm a wealthy preacher over in Illinois, but I never told her which church. If it comes up at any point, do I make one up? Refer her to the Church of T.I.T? Laughing

I know we aren't to give any real addresses or real information, but I don't want it to be too easy for her to call bullshit either.
Second, can she find these forums at all if she googles any of the quotes (and is it likely that she will)?
Also, I do have plans regarding the very important wealthy benefactors meeting, but I ask for any and all suggestions from the brilliant creative Eater community. Is there potential in this one? Razz

Nice start, Boobalie. You edited the names and numbers which will keep the google hits down, assuming your lad has the motivation to search. You've picked up a "Dakar Darling" and I like that you are annoying him with repeated references to a recognized charity. A similar massbait is going on here:

Addresses should be fake-pick a street and number at random, then google your supposed location to make sure. Some member pick a street they know but a house number that doesn't exist. Feel free to fake up a church, again making sure you don't accidentally pick a real one.

One bad thing about these lads-they are lazy-it's very difficult to get forms or photos out of them. That doesn't mean you can't give it a shot.

I got two pictures of a woman in the first email, and after googling her name, there was a LinkedIn profile with another picture that seems to be the same woman, but I'm not sure if the woman in the pictures is involved at all in the scam. They may have harvested her pictures from Facebook or something, but I was planning to ask for some kind of proof picture at some point. Not for anything too wild, but I have been thinking about some "requests" these board members might make of her in exchange for their large donation. Very Happy

Thoughts on that? Are these kind of scams generally done with said woman on hand?
I have never for a moment believed it was really a woman, especially when she said that I should call a man and he will send for her. Laughing

That was actually the first thing I did, I think. Before even googling her camp. They didn't come up with any matches on google, so I'm not sure if it's the fault of the recognition software or whether they are new pictures. Surely I can't be the first one to have gotten the script with pics attached ...
I know she has another email address from last year that she was using to spam random pages online, so she must have been at this for a while.

I do need to apologise again - I have been referring to us by the genders of our characters. I'm pretty sure she's a man irl, and I am a woman irl.I hope this hasn't caused confusion. When I say "her", I am playing along with her scam and when I refer to myself as a man, I mean my character, Mark. Razz

It kinda looks like you have them off script already. I generally don't do that until I get to the Lawyer. Not to worry though. Just keep asking a question per day and one E-mail per day. I usually contact their next character by forwarding the E-mail and then copying the Ladette so they know I have done per their request.

I had a link to share too but it looks like these guys have it covered! I learned to bait the Darlings just like Big Al does. Pretty straight, following along with what they ask so I can get a couple of bank accounts off of them to report and have shut down, then move on to the next.

That's not to say that you can't get one to go further with you! I have for sure. I like to play up that my character doesn't trust reverends and lawyers so everything that goes wrong in the bait is their fault. The lawyer for being an idiot, the reverend for recommending the lawyer. Not only that but that rev is living at that camp with all those pretty refugees... He just can't be trusted!! Laughing

As for the pics they send, I could be wrong but I think the Senegalese lads almost always pay their girls for pics. The ones I have gotten have looked like amateur photo shoot pics, not the kind usually stolen from Fb or the usual pron pics. That's why they rarely come up on image searches unless they've been used before and why it's important to post them at ScamWarners.

My basic "strategy" or whatever with this fool is just to waste a lot of his time, hence asking a bunch of questions and refusing to answer his. I did look through the scaffolding of sorts that has been set up for mass baiters and I applaud! It's so much simpler to do it that way than to be so in-depth with one. But, I guess, Linda is my first bait, so I'll play her slowly. XD

Apologies for the double post, but a bit has happened tonight (mostly because of my impatience).

First I asked about her friend, hoping to rope in another lad if possible, but she ignored me. So I pushed for bank details so I could start processing donations. Preacher me was too busy to keep dealing with her, so I set her up with my Secretary (who she seemed to greatly dislike).
Three times in a row she tried to supply me with WU instructions, and then sent me several emails in a row in all-caps ( Laughing

) and finally sent me the bank details for the Reverend!

I am so happy right now. I will have sweet dreams tonight. Very Happy

Always watermark them, even if they are easily findable on Google. Even with the watermarking the image should still come up as a match for the original image and may alert a victim who is checking up.
