Hi there! I've been on this site for a while but have taken many hiatuses. Long story short, I rid myself of my super judgmental and controlling ex, and now have plenty of over all freedom, so I'm hoping to really stick with it this time around!

I have 2 questions:
1. Is there a safe database where phone numbers of lads are shared? I know we can't post actual phone numbers in phone number format, but I'm just really curious to know what would happen if we compared phone numbers to determine how many alter egos some of these lads are scamming with.

2. This time around I'm noticing that lads are requesting photo ID. I've never had this request in the past. Obviously they want proof that they aren't being scammed themselves. The other pieces are easy enough to satisfy with false info, and I know to NEVER EVER EVER send the lad any photos they can in turn use for their personal schemes. Are they usually ok if you just give them a general excuse of not having a way to get that to them ("I don't know how", "My camera is broken", etc.)? Or do they typically get persistent with it? I've been told that when all else fails you can send them like a .txt document or a photo file that just shows a solid color and in turn blame it on their system.

Just want to be prepared. Thanks!

You would find that some numbers appear time and time again over the years, sometimes using the same name/email, others just changing the email, some changing the name, but keeping the email and even more for totally new characters/emails. You would also find that sometimes, the same telephone number is used for different characters at the same time. Other numbers may be used once and then never appear again.

Most lads don't care about the ID itself, they're just testing compliance. Send them an unopenable file straight off and they probably won't even query it, or give them some believable excuses. All they really want is a victim who appears to believe them and will comply with future requests.

Thank you for your reply. I assumed they were just looking for compliance.

What I mean about a "safe" database is one that can't be searched by lads that may bring them to this site, I guess. I assumed that the same scammers play multiple characters and use the same numbers. Just curious to know if there is any way to use that info to our advantage.......... I've been listening to too many true crime podcasts and am probably taking that way too far! LOL sorry!

There are various websites that have reports on telephone numbers. Some are just general sites where people complain about cold callers, but others specialise in phone numbers used for scams.

Unfortunately, I can't link to them due to the forum rules, but I'm sure if you were to Google a phone number such as +22999788319 you would find something useful Wink

Scamwarners.com is the sister site to this one for exposing scammers and it would be absolutely encouraged to post scam emails with the phone number in them on there Smile

Welcome back wannab8.

I would say that baiting has changed a little since you started here. The biggest difference is that it is becoming harder to get the lads to meet me at the airport. It seems that I get handed over to someone with a different writing style and I am told to call from the hotel. It takes a few emails reminding them of what I am carrying before they say they agree to meet me with their sign.

The email services now give a thumbnail of the image you send. I used to rename Windows DLL files as ID's and then sent junk files but now send images that I first save as 35X35 pixel JPGs and then blow them up to 3000pixel BMPs. The lads get a fuzzy thumbnail to preview and nothing more other than a long download. Since its just a compliance issue the bait moves on.
