A letter arrived at work addressed to one of the young kids I work with, he showed it me, clearly a scam. Typical bank manager searching for a next of kin, will split money.
Originated in Hong Kong.
Never heard of letter scams before.

They're rare these days as it is far more efficient and cost free for a scammer to use email, but sending the scam mail by post was the original way 419 type scams were run, evolving to fax in the 80s and then email.

As the letter was addressed to a innocent third party don't reply with anything that could be traced back, remember the scammer already has the kids address.

There is a thought, the letter was sent to my work address, addressed to the kid.
Il chop this one, leave it a few days and reply from my email as if I got the letter.
Must have been a mass mail out as it came in a prepaid envelope.
