Daily Mail has an article online about the near-term future potential of AI systems to imitate YOU in a very convincing manner - in other words, to contact your friends in a manner that is consistent with prior contacts, and have them download malicious software, or provide a credit card number, or otherwise scam them.

My thought - while the article does not involve imitation of a human voice, i think we are only a few years from a situation where an AI system will be able to reliably create a facsimile of your voice, call your friends or business associates, and then create a scam.
