Terrible story from Utah:

Basically, his nude photos were held ransom by the scammer until the 21 year old victim was driven to suicide. Scam baiting gets a mention in the article.

Unfortunately, the cops are made to look bad here, though there is really nothing they can do. Scammer was in the Philippines.

Nasty business, and info from Scamsurvivors highlighted this as a rapidly increasing problem as of last year. Sadly, any crime becomes very difficult to prosecute across international borders, as we have seen again and again.

And stories like this are one reason why I don't shed many tears when I drive the lads crazy with my antics or make them take out their frustration on eachother.
