I'm really bummed I haven't found any hitlad contacts in my spam folder for years now. I always found those really entertaining, especially when taken to a very drawn out negotiation about the price and their credentials as a assassin to be taken seriously.

The average run-of-the-mill money boxes and dating scams just aren't as fun, even when I've tried to come up with more or less creative new ways to mess with them.

He is pretty low quality and boring. But since he is still in contact with me, he must have a certain degree of either persistence or desperation.

I agree that as a format it sucked, but damn if they weren't funny at times. I just loved how they started out with some outrageous sum, but you could work it down into sub-$100.

I wonder if the mass baiting of hitlads helped convince them the format was worthless? Surely they didnt find all that many real victims that actually paid. Sadly I am sure there were some but not like the love scams and trunkboxes, lottos, etc. Maybe y'all actually made them go extinct lol.

I don't discriminate when it comes to lads' format, but I guess the hit lad format wasn't that successful in the first place as there's no continuity in it. The mark pays and that's it, transaction complete, vs the average advance fee or date scam, where yet another corrupt customs worker needs to be bribed and the vladette's passport was lost again.

I personally think it fails as a format because it fails in the key thing that makes 419 work. The victim wanting to believe the lad. Who wouldn't want to believe that there was a vast sum of money waiting for them for only doing a few simple things? On the other hand, no one wants to believe someone wants them killed. The lads are not stupid. They can figure out what works and what doesn't.
I think it is a format they give to beginners to see how they do. It requires no finesse. No need to be convincing as a barrister or diplomat. No need for multiple characters. Just a caps lock key and profanity.
