Often Cameroonian lads give an address in Cameroon with a ZIP code of 00237 (which does not exist). Although many countries have postal codes, only two call them "ZIP codes", the US and the Philippines. Cameroon doesn't use postal codes. 237 is the telephone, not postal, country code. Anyone living in Cameroon would know that there are no ZIP codes in Cameroon. So why do lads put 00237 as a ZIP code in Cameroon?

Possibly it's to give the victims a bit of comfort that perhaps the money is going to somewhere in the US - the 5 digit zip could be mistaken for a US one. I've seen pet scammers targeting British victims refer to Cameroon as "British Cameroon", presumably for the same reason.

Or, perhaps the first lad to do it was just dumb and the rest have just copied it from format to format. Very Happy
