Hello everyone. I'm a new joiner, very long time reader and huge fan of this site. Recently an elderly member of my family was victimized by a Mugu running the HMRC phone/voicemail scam. Fortunately no money was lost but much trauma was caused. I have managed to "chat" with him on the call back number and have tried to keep him busy. I'm sure you guys know their MO and how frequently they change numbers......if anyone in the community could please help with keeping this fool busy, I would really appreciate it. The call back number for this clown is.....(44) 0203 129 XXXX

Sincere thanks to everyone here that tries to occupy the time of these worthless scum. It's time they would otherwise use to ruin the lives of decent human beings.

From the phone number, I gather that you are in the UK. For those of us who aren't, could you explain what HMRC is and what the scam is?

It is not safe to call scammers from a phone where the phone company knows who you are. Most of our baiting is done by email (with made-up names) and other Internet channels, such as instant messenger (again with fake names). Can you post an email message from the scammer, including his email address?

It's a tax scam, sames as the IRS calls in the US.

Not safe to call and not what we deal with here.

Apologies for my post. I used an untraceable VOIP to waste his time and assumed that was the standard. The responding police officer.....yes they responded even had that exact number in her phone from previous investigations. Sorry for offending anyone. Cheers.
