Sometime earlier this year, Ghost and I decided to see what all the fuss was about with this Game of Thrones thingy, plus, as Ghost says, "There is really nothing else to watch on Sunday evenings."

What were your thoughts on this season? Past seasons? Last night's season finale? Who will live/die?

I was a bit disappointed this season was only 7 episodes. However, at the end when the night king took down the wall while riding the dragon. I was like oh snap but finally. They have been talking about the war to come since the first season .

I'm kind of slow on the uptake. My wife usually has to explain things that slip by me but she refuses to watch GOT. How is Jon Snow related to Danny? Cousins?

Oh yeah, ha ha lord Baelish, you back stabbing ass. I thought nothing could surprise you because you thought of all the possibilities.

Deny is Jon's aunt. Her brother married his mother.

My favorite episode this season was the battle with the Lanisters versus the dragons. At the end of that episode you find yourself not wanting any of the main characters to be killed on either side.

Loved the scene in the finale where Jamie sees snow falling near King's landing.

The snow falling was certainly awesome. In my head, I was saying, "Winter is here."

I'm wondering where Bronn has slipped off to, now.

The fight with Theon and the kick to his crotch. Meh. I found it unbelievable. Sack or no, a kick there still hurts. And now the Ironborn are behind the man who was coward enough to leap overboard? I call BS.

I did like the exchange between Bran and Samwell. Their exchange, with a bit of humor, did help the narrative with the reveal.

I also liked the reflection of the exchanges between Cersei and her brothers with The Mountain in the background. Like her father, family is important, but it is odd that he never emphasized the Lannister name continuing. Jamie couldn't do it. Cersei became a Baratheon, and he wanted no grandchildren from Tyrion.

Speaking of...it was weird seeing Tyrion watch Jon enter Dany's room. That's something I would have expected from Littlefinger.

Ah...Littlefinger...a death well-deserved!

I always thought Baelish was out to get revenge on the Starks and Tullys.
Ned Starks brother fought Petyr in a duel over Catelyn, she never visited him afterwards.
He must have known what the Boltons were like when he sent Sansa to them.

Jon Snow is son of Dany's older bother Rhaegar and Ned Stark's sister Lyanna. So Dany is his aunt and he's cousin to Sansa, Bran and Arya .
This has been a popular theory in our house since the beginning.
That Jon was legitimate, I didn't forsee. I think he was born after his father and half siblings were killed.

I think Jaime will be the one to kill Cersei. She going quite mad, almost Targaryn.

And I have no idea how any of the last few series will tie in with the books, some storylines have been changed so much. if they are ever written that is.

Seriously, who didn't see that coming from a mile away?

I did love all the reunions though. Brienne and the hound had a nice conversation. Sam and Bran brought the humor. Tyrion and Bronn are still BFF's. And of course, the brothers Clegane in the pre-fight weigh in.

All in all, it did a good job of setting up the final season. Dunno how they will pack it all in with six episodes left.

I think, ultimately, Bran will warg into Cersei, and cause Cersei to negotiate a peace between Cersei and Jon Snow - Jon Snow and the Starks end up on top.

(No, in all seriousness, in some fashion I think the Starks will end up on top - they are the least morally compromised noble house).

Sorry to interject on this but as someone who has not seen one single episode of GOT I find these discussions intriguing.

My guess is it will go to extra time & then a penalty shoot-out. Hope that blonde wins.

As someone who has had to sit on every spoiler until now, it has been amusing (and frustrating at times) to read people online's thoughts on where the story was going. What a relief to be finally allowed talk about it.

The 7 episodes thing was a bit of a let down, but bear in mind that most of the episodes were feature length. I thought they jumped way too quickly to Danny arriving at the frozen lake. No shots of her making her way there, even...

Next Season is going to be 7 or 8 episodes, but trust me, some very special stuff is coming.

There's really not a lot I can say, without risking being sued by HBO... and trust me, they go after people. I've seen it happen. But if you like the idea of a hell of a lot of epic battles, Season 8 is not going to let you down.

7 or 8, each one feature length. That could change, but that is the latest information. Filming starts back up around October.

Some years ago I read the first volume of the books and got hooked. I was so fraudstrated when I realised that there were more as yet unpublished books to come. And then the bastards started the TV series, making sure that the last two volumes would not be printed before the last episode was broadcast. Mad

I've sworn to watch the whole series only after I've read the last volume, whenever that may be. My husband, the traitor, has watched it without me.

The time travelling fetus

Tyrion is the son of Dany and Khal Drogo. When Mirri Maz Duur did the ritual on Drogo, she switched the unborn babies of Dany and Joanna Lannister (Tyrion's mom). The mad king had the hots for Tywin's wife and entirely too many people speculate that one or all three of his kids are secret Targaryens (who isn't?). This is why Dany gave birth to a stillborn dragon child. It was the offspring of Aerys II and didn't survive the time travel ritual. Tyrion survived, but the fetus swap was too much for Joanna and she didn't survive childbirth.

Varys is a woman, or a merman.

Roose Bolton is a skin changing vampire.

All the Stark kids except Sansa are wargs in the books. Sansa probably missed out because her direwolf was killed so early. Bran is the strongest, but the rest could at least warg into their direwolf. Arya wargs into a cat when she is training with the faceless men.
