Blimey. Three days into my first bait, and have I bagged my first piggy?

Is there a SWIFT, BIC or IBAN in there with the beneficiary name and account number?

Nice one -- you are well on your way to a piggy and once you get the additional details ^^^^ Once you do please report it to me or any other moderator (green names).

It looks from here like the scammer wants you to walk into a branch of "FNB" and deposit cash directly into the account given. More information is needed if you are going to do a wire transfer (and more importantly, to report the account most effectively).

If the account is in the US they may give a "routing number" rather than SWIFT/BIC/IBAN, and in the UK sometimes "sort code".

He's just replied, with a branch no. Well, that won't do.
He expects me to make a cash deposit, but there is no FNB branch in London.

He's emailed back, explaining that a bank transfer takes three days (it'll take a lot longer than that..) , and wether I prefer to use WU/MG.

I've replied that I only do online banking, and that going to a WU office takes to long. (My scammer doesn't know that my character lives on a canal boat... Cool

). To do an online transfer, I need full name and address details.

I like an obliging lad. I'll get on to that transfer "right away". What could possibly go wrong?

Thanks all. Nothing like a bacon sarnie to start the day.
Lars lives on a narrow boat, on the canal. It allows me to go around the country and disappear from signal at will. It can also take days to get to a town with bank or WU office. Then there are engine breakdowns, lock closures, breaches and some petty rules (all genuine btw) that will cause delays and concussion.

Then tell him the account was rejected. You do not know why but need another quickly.

You can use the option not knowing how scan a document or blame it on the clerk in the country you are in.

When I sober up, and get back to the pub ( no internet signal where I'm moored) I'll start asking about the prof slip. What has a prof slip to do with a bank transfer? I'll be getting gradually more drunk as the session continues. Violence may ensue...
