I had an idea about emailing addresses from my catcher account but instead of giving the usual "that's intriguing yadda yadda yadda" response I respond by saying I know this is a scam. Normally I would just delete, but as it stands I am an out of work English teacher. I can go on to explain I knew it was scam because of the grammar and I offer to "clean up" the emails to make them more effective for a cut of the profits from anything I edit.

If I have any takers I can absolutely butcher the script, fill it with out of place language, spelling errors and increase the red flags. I can offer up "reasons" why the changes will easily fool a native English speaker. If it works I can make anyone using my "service" a little bit worse at scamming by making their emails unreadable and teach them all kinds of fake English language rules and etiquette.

Does anyone think this would be effective? Or will it just burn the baits and be counter productive to making them worse at scamming?

They will either double down and insist that it is not a scam or they will just drop you. Standard de-education techniques would be more effective.

There are a few different ways of doing it, ranging from subtle to not so subtle. Like switching out a word for a similar one. Prosecution becomes prostitution. Demonstrate becomes defecate. If you use the word often enough the lad might pick up on it and start using it himself.

Or you can actively "educate" the lad in how things are done in your country. Does your barrister have a license to practice felony? Does your banker have vasectomy insurance? Because those things are required where you live. Use words and phrases that a non native english speaker won't be familiar with, but a victim would pick up on as being strange and off putting.
