I wonder if it's steal or sell but an address I use exclusively for baiting now not only gets bunches of 419 emails but is now being bombarded with fake site messages with re-directs to dang near anything bogus you can think of. Debt relief, free socks for UnderArmor, you name it. Many lead to questionnaire pages that then take you to advertising (I'm using my mobile to poke around to keep any critters from getting to my PC).

I wonder how I ended up on THAT distribution list?

I have a few accounts in the Yahoo family that have been minimally exposed, ie no google hits for the email address. One of them ONLY has 419 scam emails despite being regularly used for 419 correspondence more than 7 years. Those lads aren't sharing my addy with anyone else!
Although once in a while they'll hit me up with a different format.
I *think* it must be the same lads since I haven't got on other spam lists. Either that, or they are sharing only with a very carefully selected group.

The rest of those accounts get huge amounts of non-419 spam although interestingly variable. One is all (male improvement products), adult come-ons and phishing; another is a wild mix of everything imaginable including a recent boom in redirect sites as mentioned above; another one seems to be mainly US-based spamvertising (this one also has a LinkedIn profile). And one of them seems to have a profile that matches well with some of my real interests, which freaked me out until I realised that those interests are not unusual for my demographic.

One irate lad posted my email all over the internet as a liar and a scammer. Scamalot etc. Hilarious. He said "He promised to send me the products I paid for but only stole my money". Pot calling the kettle black. Lad using a stolen credit card buying my fake products. It was a bummer as I had a fake website developed for that character and a great back story. However, I decided if any lad googles they will back off. Alas, a new email, story and website was created. That old email still is a great catcher account which is the silver lining.
