Didnt want to necro. The biggest problem for an antarctic safari would be that only researchers are permitted, the application process is lengthy, and the rules extensive. Thou with a truly hooke lad you may have fun getting him to write research proposals and fill out application forms. Laughing

sail-boat, a compass, and start from south africa.

a sat-internet would be nice though Very Happy

at some point, the ice will make navigating really hard...

That would be Mission Impossible ! I still like the idea of the desolate Skeleton Coast, Namibia though. It has been done once before on here several years ago but I can't find the link.

It may be impossible to actually get the lad there but you could set up a pseudo authorization process and make him think he is going to Antarctica only to have him stredded in either South Africa or Argentina.

South Africa obviously would be much more probable but just think if you could get him stredded in Argentina. Smile

When I originally posed the thought, I was thinking in my head "How would one go about stredding a lad in Antarctica?"

I had considered the fact that there are a lot of regulations, and that gettign them to find a boat to take the trip privately would be the only "real" way...

So, realisticly speaking, there IS a way to get to Antarctica... it's by cruise. Thcatch is that the lad is going to have to get to South America first. And then from there get either a expedition yacht or a small cruise ship (less than 500 people) to take them the rest of the way.

From there, it's all about getting them to miss their ship back.

But at that point stredding is the least of their worries.

The hard part is setting the hook deeply enough and coming up with a believable enough story to get the lad to do it. Though Shorty probably would have.
