So I'm very new to the whole scambaiting thing, and I got my first scam email, it wasn't quite what I was expecting, It was about a loan an contacting another email, should I ignore this one? I was more expecting one of the more common ones like Nigerian prince, or moving large amounts of money out of the country. Any feedback will be appreciated. |

If the first email to hit your catcher account was not to your liking, more will arrive. Or, you can take your pick in surplus here:

Loan lads can be just as fun, especially for straight baiting, and you can learn from any type of bait. Loan scams are just particularly prevelant this time of year, as victims are trying to get money for Xmas. Give it a shot, and give these horrible lads the baiter brand of Xmas cheer. |

Loan lads aren't as common as they used to be but can still be interesting. Instead of riches awaiting you for a modest fee, they offer a low-interest loan for a modest fee.
Here's an example from way back when that went pretty well.

First and foremost, are you baiting safe? If the scammer has ANY of your real life information then drop him and move on to the next.
You could also create a bogus email and send a "my friend says I can get a loan from you, is this true?" message to start over from scratch. The goal is to isolate your real info completely.
Enjoy. |
