Gmal is the standard go to around here. I used Hushmail for a long time and loved it. There are a bunch of providers out there and people will chime in with their favorites.

Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook all work well. If you have IP concerns these three hide IP when emailing via the browser interface.

I came here to ask this very question...More so, I replied to a craigslist add (and caught a subsequent scammer) with my work email. Is this a problem if I chose to screw with the guy?

Not sure I really want to, but I'm drinking and bored, so thought I would, until I realized the work mail thing....thank you

Exactly why we advise members to bait safe-the scammer has your work email and maybe some other real life information. Never bait from your RL accounts-it's easy enough to fake one up.

I follow. But I had no idea it was a scam, nor was even suspecting a scam. Just replied to a post all willy nilly like a noob. But 10-4 gotcha thanks, maybe next time.

DO68, just let the lad go from your RL account. They are used to people disappearing. If you haven't engaged much, there's no need to worry. If he doesn't think you're a victim, he'll move on; they don't invest time where there's no return.

Give it a few days, and then try again from a fake account. I suspect the rental scammer will ask you for a deposit. You might want to spend the next couple of days reading about various scams and if you're serious about having some fun with these guys, I would look into getting a mentor. That can help keep you out of all sorts of trouble, and you'll get a kick start on your baiting skillz.
