I've been trying to communicate with someone via email. They send me an email, which I reply to. My email is in plain text, with each quoted paragraph preceded by greater-than signs, and my reply underneath the paragraph. This is the way it should be. They write back, saying that I sent an empty message. I don't see a header saying what MUA they're using, but for MTA they're using Google with SMTP. I checked the contact page for a phone number, but there is none. This has happened twice with the same company. The bug is clearly on their end. How can I explain to them how to fix it? How can I get them to understand that their mail program is buggy?

Are they just quickly looking at your reply, and seeing their original email, but not noticing your replies?

Try putting your replies underneath their email as a trial

I think you should put your replies above the quoted paragraphs. I know Yahoo and Gmail hide repeated text by default, and I would expect anything at the bottom of the email to get hidden as well, even if it is the new message. I've been having problems with Yahoo not loading emails at all, so it could just be a technical issue.

A reply to a paragraph goes below that paragraph. See http://www.caliburn.nl/topposting.html .

I follow this rule when replying to replies in my reporting alias, but my baiting characters top-post, so as to make them seem less intelligent. But the webmail programs I use for baiting don't make replies invisible.

For my real-life email, I use Kmail.

Well, what really matters is the program the other people are using. Sure, there are advantages to bottom-posting, but I top-post when I reply to emails because that's what everyone I know and everyone I don't know but have to email anyway does and that's how the programs I use are set up.
