This is a first for me. I got a confirmation email in one of my gmail baiting accounts from Live.com to confirm my sign up. I checked the email and it wasn't a spoof, it was a legit email with the regular link to click an confirm that I signed up. What would be the point of a lad doing that? I myself don't use Live in neither RL nor baiting - and don't even have the Live tools on my computer.

Two options that come to my mind:

1. Use your "identity"
2. It's not a legit url maybe is just a text that in real forwards to "randomphising.com" instead "legitwebsite.com" Like I do here (it redirects to google) http://www.netflix.com

well, very awkward.

if you want to take the risk, you could activate that account, then wait for a few days and request the password (after all, it's your account, technically).

this will hurt the lad, as he invested time into it.

No - it was legit, headers, HTML of the email and all.

I actually was going to do that, but unfortunately the confirmation link had expired by the time I checked the email in that account. It's not an account I use often.

The only thing (after thinking on it all morning) I could think was that maybe the lad was going to try to sync accounts or something. I did check my logs and there's been no suspicious activity - but tons of phishing and malware emails in my spam box. I think it's all the same lad. I'm not going to worry about it - I did click the link in the email that reported it as not me requesting the account after the confirmation link was expired. I'll see if it happens again. I just didn't know if another baiter had this happen before.
