How do we get Bank accounts used for scam closed now?

They used to be reported to Alan, but I have no assurance he ever did anything. And I understand he was banned from Eater.

Is there a new way?

You can PM any Moderator with the account, Scammer's name and addy and type of scam.

He wasn't banned, but his last post was three years ago.

@vonpaso xlura: Alan himself told me via email that he was banned and restricted here.

And he is now promoting a system to act on Bank accounts for money. He pretends that he and other people who report accounts used for scams get money in return.

Sounds very similar to cash baiting in my opinion, but let´s leave it at that. As I said first, I have no proof that he ever did anything.

Obviously, I wasn't a party to your exchange with Alan, but I can assure you he wasn't banned.

I have no comment on the rest of your information. But you can PM the account info along with the scammer's name and email address and a very brief description to me or any other mod. We can make sure it goes to the right place. Eater has it's own connections within the banking industry.

Over the past three years will have reported close on 20,000 accounts and not a penny has changed hands.

We have contacts in every major bank and financial institution across the globe - and the reward we get ? The thanks and praise for supplying the information ! (that's enough for me). Cool

The requirement to send Full Headers and Full Text is a legacy from the person that used to claim to report accounts directly to banks. (But don't delete the e-mails for a week or two just in case I call for them)

Put simply -- Bank Fraud Investigators don't need them. They will forensically profile the account and take any necessary action.

A good example for a report looks like this -

There's really not a lot we can do with email headers these days anyway.
Satellite provider IPs resolve to their head office. Dynamic IP addresses resolve to the nearest large router, and many of the bigger email providers, faced with general privacy concerns, are stripping sender IPs entirely.
Given the account details a bank knows where to start looking, and after that as Spot points out they can see far more than we can Wink

@spot & @nailgunner: You are both right. I mentioned the header, because the "person" that "used to claim" the he reported accounts required them.

I never saw the use of the header. In fact, again, I never saw that anything was done in the old fashioned way.

So, I will report just as spot suggests.
