So the scammer trawls Gumtree real estate listings, looking for marks.
My listing, with room for rent, caught their eye.
Scammer saw my mobile number, sent an SMS to me. No phone number
displayed in the 'from' section of the SMS, only the word 'Gumtree'.
(Note; I have never had such a caller identification in my phone, so
my mobile network provider inserted or forwarded 'Gumtree' as the
callers identification, instead of a phone number.)
(Note; Gumtree is like Craigslist, except without the prostitutes, serial
killers and racist parrots named Tyler... .)

(From) Gumtree
I'm Ashley. Is your room Advert on Gumtree still available for rent? if yes
pls. email me back to ashleyowen241 at gmail.com Thanks.

Well I have about two weeks left of a 30 day free email (trial) address,
on gmail , that I have no intention of continuing with. So I replied...;

effect, that renumeration is compulsory to derive from an
Australian bank account.

You should take into account there is OSP for you, in
the event you crave it.

Well, (I have no PayPal), I'm wondering what info we could try and
uncover that may be useful in the future?

EDIT;Alternatively, I'm happy to pass this scammer to someone else,
if someone else would like to PM me an email address, that I could then
"request (scammer) to contact me on my alternate/business/work email"....

If this was set up with any real life info, or any info that could possibly lead back to you, then walk away. Ignore any future messages from the lad.

I just read back-that the lad contacted you and has your mobile number. Definitely walk away.
