Has anyone used Janusnode for auto generating replies to scammer emails? It's a very clever program for auto generating wacky replies.

To what point? Serious question - What are your objectives when using such a tool?

Removed unnecessary quote of previous message. Think of this as a conversation. - bware419ers

If fed a diet of source emails, it'll be fun to see what comes out. It may be more creative / hilarious.

I program, and I know other programmers. Any program which claims to aid in writing, or does the writing itself, is not creative. Creativity is like logic, only it isn't. Logic cannot really reconstruct creativity in the same sense it can engineer a perfect wheel. Conversation that is programmed is easy, but making it look like a natural conversation is not, and really "true ai" is called a certain romantic dance by my more advanced programming friends.

I would suggest talking to others...

Why, is talking to scammers natural conversation? Not interested about ai, programming, arguing the toss, or the ethics of using Janusnode. Just, had anyone used it to generate replies? If not, then I will.

in answer to the original question, Janusnode trained on a corpus of scam emails would be very unlikely to get replies from scammers, much less carry on a conversation or convince them to do anything. Even ELIZA can do better, although scammers drop out once ELIZA starts saying stuff like this

Quote:
Does it please you to believe I am interest in this offer kindly email you back at this email or call your phone number( _____@ hotmail. com), so that you will be able to get back to me immediately?

Even more "hands on" use of Janusnode-generated responses would not keep a scammer interested for long, they are very keen to avoid time wasters and I think would reliably recognise Janus'd responses as incoherent. Feel free to try it, but I expect it will get boring fast.

I'm thinking along the lines of scripting replies.. It's rather like telling these Microsoft scam calls to fuck off, then hanging up to see how many times they call back. (4 times so far).. type of thing. It amuses me to make scammers incandescent with rage. Maybe just a simple scripted insult would be better to hook them in?

Yeah the automated chatter I don't see working.. Plus takes the fun out of everything right?

I tend to set up an "out of office" message on my account from time to time. that auto replies saying I am out, working a big project and I or someone from my office will get back to you..

This only not sets up the ability to bring in another character, but makes the lad think he has hit someone with a few dollars in his pocket.

It's nearly impossible to get them properly incandescent with rage without a bit of investment first on their part. I expect they get loads of insults from their initial mail blasts and nearly all of them just ignore those -- after all someone who starts with an insult isn't likely to be a potential payout.

Anyway, feel free to try it out and see if it works for you.

The thrill of the chase, yeh, I can understand that. Nobody seems to have done it, lots of head sims but no actual experience. The timbre of the scammer email is essentially the same, maybe scripting the reply process with different source files for Janus would be a more context aware thing?

Maybe I'll just do it and post the results whatever they are. I'm an applied scientist, so any results of the experiment would be valid.

I'll hack together some shell script in the next few days.

Well, to get someone really angry takes a bit of research and knowhow. Replying with an insult, that's socially unacceptable in their culture is going to do it 9 out of 10 times. You've got to know their rules, then break them.

Therein lies the problem: applying science in an attempt to replicate an art.

The Scambaiting Humanitarian Institute of Technology has done extensive primate research involving communications between 419 scammmers and monkeys. The results have been quite promising, and the research team estimates... and I quote: "We are very exited with the great gains we have made in our latest group of test subjects. We fully expect to intigrate primate operatives into the ongoing fight against scammers, by mid to late 2018. While our initial results on test group ID-10t were disappointing, the current group of test subjects (on loan from the SOOI Initiative) show amazing potential. In just under a week they were able to log on to their PCs with a blood alcohol content ranging from .08 to .25, chain-smoke cigarettes, and fling shit at their monitors."

The link is on here somewhere, I can't find it at the moment.

(See what I did there? Get an AI program to come up with something similar and it may hold the lads' attention long enough to get a reply.) Very Happy

Is this the monkeys, the scammers or Justcold that you're talking about here?

Either way, all this science just to insult lads? Confused Innit a bit wasteful? Remember, if you use up all our science now, there will be little to no left for future generations of aspiring, lad insulting scientist!
