Be careful out there............

From a local paper police log:

Police: Sisters say mother sent large sums of cash to Liberia, flew off to meet man there

Story

Posted: Tuesday, November 17, 2015 8:20 pm

At 7:02 p.m., two sisters came into the station to report a possible fraud involving their mother and her financial accounts. They said that, recently, their mother, whose mental capacity, they believe, had changed, came into some inheritance. Shortly thereafter, their mother said she met a man named Augustus Morris Adamma Kamara via Facebook. Augustus lives in Liberia, and the sisters saw their mother was sending him large amounts of money. At some point, the mother told her daughters she was going to stay with a friend in Roxbury. After some time, they were able to locate the friend, who told them their mother had bought a one-way ticket to Liberia and has since left to meet with Augustus. The sisters said they have not spoken with their mother in several weeks and are unsure if she is OK. The sisters contacted the U.S. Embassy in Liberia and advised them of the situation and that they were concerned for their mother’s well-being. The embassy advised them they were actively looking for their mother. The sisters went to court and were just granted guardianship of their mother. They said they believe both Augustus and the friend in Roxbury were taking advantage of their mother, mentally and financially. They said the Roxbury friend currently had possession of the mother’s debit card and possibly her house key. The officers contacted the Roxbury friend who said the sisters’ mother had gone on vacation in Liberia and left her the debit card so she could send money to her when she needed it. She said she does not have the house key and would not mind returning the mother’s debit card to the sisters. Police advised the sisters to continue communication with the U.S. Embassy and to go to their mother’s banks and put holds on her accounts until they make contact with her. The Criminal Investigation (CID) will be notified for a possible follow-up.
