I've got an email from a lad promising untold millions (usual story), and has asked me to check if he has the right account. He's included what appears to be full details of a bank account in Hong Kong, which I don't understand. Is that his real account, a totally fake one or has he stolen some details from a real victim?

Obviously, if the details aren't "mine" then he wants my real ones. Perhaps the Norfolk & Chance will be opening in his area soon Twisted Evil

To be on the safe side forward the email and the account to a mod-the peeps with their names in green.

He's asking if it's the right account for him to transfer money to, right? In that case it's probably an account he made up, and he probably made an obvious mistake. Check that the country of the SWIFT code (the fifth and sixth letters; the first four are the name of the bank) matches the country in the address, that the country matches that in the IBAN (the first two letters), and that the IBAN is well-formed.
