I've been trying to kill this fake puppy site for months. eNom has been passing the reports to Namecheap, who does nothing since the site is hosted at Google, who also does nothing. I got a reply from eNom saying "we are unable to verify the claims of alleged fraudulent activity." There is no known victim of the scam, and they apparently don't know a fraudulent site from a site created as an exercise. So, could you ask the site for a puppy, and if you get any obviously fraudulent response like a request to send money by WU to Cameroon, post the whole conversation in the thread? I tried one of my characters asking for a puppy, but the lad never answered.

I tried to view the site, but it is blocked by my web filter for spyware. PM me the e-mail, my character, Benja Wright Dover may be interested in buying a puppy for his grandchildren!

I sent the entire downloaded copies of two sites with the same text (except one was pugs instead of poms) to ICANN, who presumably showed them to eNom. Neither of those sites has any known victims either.

My other character just sent an inquiry.

Bill, we don't know what the email address is. Can you borrow your neighbor's Linux box and sign up on the site?

A proxy always lets me get around the web filter that my ISP set up when I'm viewing some fake sites.

Bit of a problem here. One of my characters mentioned specifically a puppy named Chaingear found on the site's available puppies page. All three characters got an identical message from Muhammad's Successor, not mentioning any of the puppies on the site, but just listing a generic male and female pair. So should we
*say we want a specific puppy listed on the site?
*say we want the male or the female?
(Names of the puppy and the lad altered to synonyms to prevent the lad finding this thread. You can figure out which puppy I asked about.)

Yep, I know which pup you're talking about.

Sounds like all three characters got the same email simply because it's the next one up on his script.

Why don't you question him about Chaingear? “Don't you still have that puppy?” and “What other puppies do you have available now?”
After all, you DO need to at least see a pic of what you are spending your money on.

You could even ask, “When is the next litter expected? May we send a deposit now to reserve one of those?”

And no, you don't want a pair – you only want a male pup.

ETA – UPDATE:
Just received communication from the lad (gmail). It is a very descriptive, comprehensive email – he obviously doesn't want to waste time emailing back and forth for the sake of answering your questions. He seems to be offering only – as Von said – two pups, a male and a female. He does ask later in the email whether you want one or both of them, if only one, which? He offers no further descriptions – i.e., color, price, etc. – on the “available” pups. LOL, the last question he asks of you is which breed you want!

Now, that's interesting … he has had the parents of this 12-week-old litter for 14 years! Not only are they too old to breed, they're probably on death's doorstep! He doesn't refer to a “litter” – rather, “batch of children” …

And isn't that cute – an email from my chosen puppy, Flower-of-the-Valley, as well Very Happy

My fisherwoman has asked for Drum.

I think that if two of us ask for the same puppy, and he agrees, that would prove conclusively that it's a scam. I'll submit all the bait transcripts together, with the baiter names obfuscated (I usually replace a name with Фывап Ролджэ or the like, with many I can use Шлбгоь or Ωγυνξο or so on) so that they'll know that the lad is willing to ship the same puppy to two different people but won't know who they are without rereading all his mail.

Should I send eNom the opening format now, before we get to the request for money?

Also I suggest using various misspellings of the breed name. I've seen Pomеrian and Pomenаrian.

ETA: He claims to be in North Carolina. If any of you have a character in North Carolina, you may want to bait with that one and see where he claims to be.

I finally got a reply as well, sounds like the same script KOD got - same questions and all.

I noted what to bait for so here goes ... my first fake pet bait so we'll see if my overly-nice-but-naive character can get him off script a bit.

Von, more than one of us asking for the same puppy should expose this scammer's evil intentions to any idjit !!!

I already asked for Flower-of-the-Valley, but can tell him that my husband insists on a male so I would like to have your Drum instead.

This character usually lives in Mississippi (near the Eater Dropbox), but if it's helpful to the bait I can give her a North Carolina address instead.

Waiting to hear back from you because I do need to respond to this lad sometime today.

I doubt the dropbox will be needed in this bait. He'll want you to send money somewhere, then he'll pretend to send the puppy to your closet airport.

My character in California (who has also been dealing with a product lad) got an email directing him to the website's list of available puppies. That proves that the email address is connected to the website, which is completely unobvious from his first script.

Well, this character also has a Florida address and bank -- as well as a fake Jacksonville phone number -- already set up. So maybe I'll just stick with that.

I will order up the same puppy that you are interested in.

This is a bait for evidence. You can ask some silly questions if you like, but don't drag it on too long, and don't do something that might make him twig. I'd like to submit all the baits at once, hopefully next week, to the registrar.

Update from my character who's in California. The lad has emailed me claiming to be in Maryland. Being that he's told other baiters he's in NC would that be enough proof?

Yes. He told my characters, one in Maryland and one in California, that he is in North Carolina. But I just checked my other character's email and he told him he's in mary land. He's going to ask what city and can he visit.

Keep baiting until you get a WU request and, if possible, a piggy. I got an unclear reference to WU, which I posted in goofy. Once you get the WU request, forward all the emails to me or post in the fake banks thread. Hopefully this'll be sometime next week.

North Carolina for me. Has not yet "asked" for $$$ but says there will be a $100 "transportation fee" for me to pay.

I've heard nothing since 22 UTC yesterday and guess he's taking the day off. Come to think of it, that would be 6 in the morning in Malaysia, where the bank that supposedly sent me the money is.
