One size fits all? A found money/recovery scam email

I was just going thru one of my catcher accounts today and found this burning missive waiting for me. It's a pretty typical recovery scam (with some elements of a found bank fund scam mixed in) but the lad's insistence on trying to cover every possible base made me laugh.

The full text of the email (with my inevitable smart-ass comments interspersed) is below:

This is to intimate you of a very important information which will be of a great help to redeem you from all the difficulties you have been experiencing in getting your long overdue payment due to excessive demand for money from you by both corrupt Bank officials and Courier Companies after which your fund remain unpaid to you. I need to give you any insurance which we take you a noted to your fund which has be here for a very long Time in the office of the west Africa Central bank of Burkina Faso Ouagadougou here in West Africa.

I am Zouma Abubaka. a highly placed official of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).It may interest you to know that reports have reached our office by so many correspondences on the uneasy way which people like you are treated by Various Banks and Courier Companies Diplomat(s) across Europe to Africa and Asia London UK, (What? Not in the United State of America?) and we have decided to put a STOP to that and that is why I was appointed to handle your transaction here in Burkina Faso Ouagadougou. Sir all Madam I just want to inform you that you have a fund Worth the Sum Of 2.6USD (That won't even buy me a Starbuck's.) in your name to be transfer to your bank account Which have be here in the Bank Code and Protocols Since TWO Year I was sent to let you know on what to do next to get the fund in your bank account and I assure you that once you follow the Rules then I will give you the fund in your name,

All Governmental and Non-Governmental prostates (Ouch!) ,NGO's, Finance Companies, Banks, Security Companies and Diplomat(s) which have been in contact with you and us of late have been instructed to back up from your transaction and you have been advised NOT to respond to them anymore since the IMF is now directly in charge of your payment. Your fund will be transferred to you directly from our source with immediate effect and we shall give you further details on how your fund will be released. You can as well call me as soon as you send the e-mail so that you will be given an immediate response.

I hope this is clear. (Crystal clear, yes.) Any action contrary to this instruction is at your own risk. Respond to this e-mail on ([email protected]).
