What type of Scam is this?

At first this looks like a standard fake-job-offer scam. Where the victim is required to pay some sort of "transaction" fee to get the job.

Here are the name's of the software's you will need to start working with Myob business essentials software 2013, US Patent Single Users Pack simply accounting 2013, all this will installed by the company certified vendor in an Hp laptop with a vast internet connection, you will be using in starting your training.. The company will provide you a free Hp laptop with a fast internet connection and your W4 form will be coming along with the working materials you need to start working with and you will received a start up check to purchase all the listed materials above from the company vendor. The software vendor will be responsible for installing the software and any updates and patches. they will also need to perform manual data backups and secure the data to meet HIPAA standards.

The funds for the software will be provided for you by the company via check , make sure you use them as instructed for the software and i will refer you to the vendor you are to purchase them from okay. NOTE: All softwares are to be purchased from the software office the company has been buying from for years now Okay. This Job offers Flexible hours but you are to report online by 8am daily for duties, task and assignments.

Our company accountant just confirmed, The check for your working materials was issued yesterday . Here is the tracking number for the package . # 8065-1587-XXX (FedEx)

Once the package arrive. follow this instructions, Here is what you should do . Proceed to your Bank Teller, An ATM Machine or your Bank Mobile App and have the check deposited. Once deposited, funds would be made available for withdraw the next day ( within 24 hours or less ). Email me with a vivid scanned copy or photo shot of the deposit receipt for record purpose and to post funds to you overnight.

What I find unusual with this scam is that the DHL tracking number is valid and that the package was delivered in a town with only 100.000 inhabitants.

So where is the catch? It looks like the Scammer already has spent real money sending a package with DHL and he must somehow recover the cost?

It is a fake cheque scam - the cheque that has been sent is fake, but the scammer is hoping that the victim will send the fees before that is discovered.

As for paying money, the DHL account is probably compromised or the scammer has a victim sending the cheques out on his behalf - he won't have spent any of his money.
