Well not quite but hea trying to proove his authenticity!

Just had an email to my baiting account from my loan lad asking to connect on LinkedIn. Looks genuine but my baiting account doesnt have LinkedIn so im not sure how he found me! Its scary to think these lads are trying to convince people they are genuine by having LinkedIn accounts!

There are definitely lads on LinkedIn - I had one who claimed to be from "L.F. Company in Benin" add my real profile. It smelled of Lad so I left it well alone

These people will use any and every medium to scam. LinkedIn is just another angle for them... But as you say, it does potentially add an air of legitimacy if they get the profile looking right.

It seems some people are less than careful when accepting connection requests on LinkedIn, so a lad could well build up a decent contact list to add to the authenticity. (the connection request I got had 78 connections already)

When you sign up for LinkedIn it gives you the option to invite all your contacts to join up too. By which I mean, spam your whole email address book. This is probably how you got the invite. And then LinkedIn behaves like you already have a profile....

LinkedIn can be good as another channel to contact lads, but most prefer to take it back to email/phone once a contact has been made through LinkedIn's messaging system. HOWEVER I would suggest being very careful if using LinkedIn for real-life purposes --- it's possible that a baiting and r/l account can become associated by accident (or that your r/l details can be exposed by browsing lad profiles).

I have not conducted full testing but saw some apparent crossover between (I thought, unassociated) r/l accounts of mine. So please be careful if using LinkedIn for baiting.

I have a LinkedIn account that I hardly use in RL but dont think ill venture into a baiting LinkedIn tbh. I get enough through email so cant see what benefit it would have. Maybe to someone it would, but not me.
