My first bait in 3 years. Adams Toure (Anyone else come across him?) was offering gold at €29,000 a kilo. I negotiated him down to €19,000 in cash. sevreral phones calls and he was very excited at my €300,000 in cash. I was due to meet him at Accra airport this morning at 6am. Got an annoyed phone call at 7am irish time. LOL .... he was trying to get me to meet his partner to brng me to an executive hotel. Anyway I was up early and took lots of calls trying to meet him at vrious locations around the airport. I eventually found my own hotel where I am now! LOL!

MY question is if the partner was adam himself or specialist kidnapper?

"Executive hotel" likely being a shack several dozens of miles away from Accra where you are either outright kidnapped and held for ransom or then practically separated from anyone but the lads themselves and more or less forcibly made to do as they tell you under various excuses. Or killed and robbed, that works too.

I don't know if I would call these guys specialist kidnappers since you are practically agreeing to be their "guest" the moment you land in Accra to meet them. It's not like you can do much once you are in a car and on the way to the middle of nowhere, and you won't likely even suspect it. Why would you? But kidnappers they definitely can be, and this applies to your Adam as well.

I've got an idea. Would it be possible for your character to actually get kidnapped by somebody else, someone who you thought was an associate of Adam? Tell the lad that you thought that you were getting into a car to meet him but it turned out that you got kidnapped by some other scumbag. They took your phone because they didn't want you to contact the authorities. But they will let you use their laptop to log into your email to contact someone you have previously corresponded with to arrange for ransom. Since you don't want your regular business contacts to know about your shady dealings you decided that the lad is your best hope.

Tell him that the kidnappers took the money that you had to pay him, but you will give him double if he helps secure your freedom. Give him an email address (or phone number if you can have someone else talk to the lad) that belongs to a relative/friend, then continue the bait from that address/number.

Does that make sense?

I was waiting until I earned a particular trophy to use as my avatar, but somebody here bribed a mod to change it to a drunken fool for April 1st. Well at least they got it half right. I'll leave it up to yall to figure out which half.

And here I thought that I was coming up with something original. It figures that everything has been done before. Have the details of that modality been posted here? There are some finer points that need to be polished with my idea and I would love to see if they have been worked out.

Please do post what happens. I am baiting a gold lad as well, and he has shown ZERO interest in money. Only in getting me to Kenya. I'm trying to figure out how to play it once I finally get around to "travelling".

just a little bit of information:

in nigeria and other west african countries, there are crooked taxi drivers, they especially wait at airports for customers, who are not aware of this business.

for example, a real nigerian taxidriver once told his customer: we meet at 9 am in the hotel lobby. if someone else tells you, that I'm waiting around the corner and I sent him to you, don't listen, otherwise you will get robbed.

so imagine this: your character arrives in lagos, and someone tells him that your business partner ordered a taxi and will bring your character to him. you can then call the lad and thank him for sending you a taxi.

the lad will go nuts, because he is well aware that type of crime.

you could even tell him one day later that your character is "somewhere far outside lagos". and then wait for your lad to pick your character up. because currently your character is still worth something, he could access his bank accounts or ask friends at home.

Although, not to get *too* off-topic, I'm having the same problem with a gold lad. He's not asking me to give him any personal information and every time I try to dangle money, he completely ignores it and just keeps telling me I need to travel to Burkina Faso. I've been baiting him for going on 3 months now, so he's had plenty of opportunity to try the old "If you can't travel, then please pay this fee..." trick

I guess I'm going to have to throw any ideas for a straight-bait out the window and just see if I can safari him.

Yes, I've done kidnaps a couple of times, and lads believe them so the idea of a crook chopping the maga in front of the lad is quite reasonable.

Basically, maga gets into the wrong car and then the kidnapper pokes the lad until he explodes.

Kidnapping is a cheap trick and likely to backfire. A professional scammer will stay "friends" with his target throughout the process and likely end up with a lot more money than he could hope for from a quick smash-and-grab kidnapping. Risk is reduced as well as there is less likely to be police involvement in-country and the victim will end up in no position to hire a lawyer. They will often be shamed into silence or worse. By the time the police are involved (if they ever are) the money will be long gone. Kidnappers necessarily show their hand before they get a cent.

Top end gold lads and wash-wash lads rely on an in-person demonstration of their capacity to a victim so this may just be a setup for a meeting used as a convincer. If this is the case the victim can expect excellent hospitality and a very professional conversation - Not that I'd recommend going in any case.

Of course this sort of convincer needs capital, contacts and brains so smallbois need not apply. This is, as I said, a considered and professional approach to fraud.

True. I'd say that 90% of the "come to my country" are just bluffs to milk you more money to pay for a representative. I've found lads that backtrack and try to persuade you not to come if you are too enthusiastic about going. Then some other lads either want to do what NG says, and a minority wants to rob or kidnap. And then many others just try to improvise a plan when a determined bai... errrr mugu will go to their country no matter what. We can only guess what they exactly wanted to do as they wail for the wasted time at the airport.
