... when 2 people are meant to meet, but both have fake photos of the other.
Yesterday, Zürich paid host to yet another diplomatic visitor. The victim not wanting there to be any mistakes asked for a photograph of the diplomat and was sent this random photo from the web
The diplomat called yesterday morning saying he was in Geneva and was about to get on the train to Zürich so that he could collect the $20,000 needed to release the consignment.
The diplomat later rang to say that he was at a "restaurant opposite the post office". Since he was meant to be meeting the victim in the main station, and had decided to wander off to find something to eat (and managed to confuse the name of a tram stop with an actual post office), the victim was totally confused and didn't have any idea where he was.
It was eventually agreed that the diplomat would return to the station and they would meet there - unfortunately, the photo the diplomat had was of the actor Christopher Lee, so the chances of them actually finding each other were slim to say the least.
Judging by the 30 missed calls I had yesterday afternoon, I don't think the diplomat enjoyed his visit that much.
The best part though is the excuse given by the bank for why the victim could not find the man in the photograph

It gets better - the original diplomat has been replaced with a new one who claims to have flown from Paris to Basel this afternoon.
He's just been given the bad news that the victim won't be in Zürich for the foreseeable future and he will have to deliver to his home address, a "short" distance away. |
