I do--I want to kill Old Man Winter.

I am so sick and tired of this weather.

Six foot snowbanks, roads that are crap because it's too cold for the salt that the trucks spread to melt the snow. Daytime temperatures that struggle to get into the single digits, and night time temps that are double-digits below zero.

Don't even get me going on the windchill (-20s to -30s) every damn night for the last two weeks.

We get a warm-up this weekend, then the damn polar vortex hits us again next week with the same crap.

My Jeep Wrangler handles the snow just fine, but it really inhales the gas when I'm in 4WD. Instead of getting 18-19 mph around town, I'm getting half of that because of using 4WD and having the defrosters/heater running full-blast.

And it's so damn cold that the gloves I wear (which are very good ones) are crap. My fingers still freeze. Of course my ears do, because I don't wear a hat Sad

How is everyone else coping who have this kind of weather? Are you shouting at the heavens that enough is enough?

For you folks with nice warm weather--go screw yourselves.

(My Uncle mentioned he got 19" of snow...Saturday. Ugh.)

Not much snow here in the mid-atlantic area, but plenty of cold. Single digits in the mornings on and off for the last couple weeks, and going below zero tonight. The office for the shop where I work is in a 110 year old house. It was nice in there today- we had it up to 57 inside. Evil or Very Mad

/\/\/\ This. Currently 13F dropping like a rock. Will be 0F within 2-3 hours.
We have already had over 5 feet of snow and it's fixing to crank back up Sunday.
Blech.

My pair of "gloves" are great. But when it get so cold, nothing works.

I have no tap water because the pipe is frozen. The high today was -7. It's expected to just graze 0 tomorrow (the forecast says 1, the graph says -1), which may not be enough to thaw the pipe. It's not expected to get solidly above freezing until Saturday, and that morning it's supposed to snow.

Today I took a bottle out to the well, filled it, and poured it into the water dispenser (after giving some water to the three geese who looked at me inquisitively and to the ducks). I had to soak and salt some chicken and could not do it the usual way, leaving a trickle running though the pan; I had to fill the pan from the dispenser. Tomorrow I'll have to fill the bottle to flush the toilet, if it doesn't thaw. I'm thinking that church may be canceled because of the weather; if it is, I have a plan.

And just yesterday the melting water of the ice that Octavia dropped was dripping all day.

Sheesh, we've got it easy compared to you -- at least we haven't had any pipes freeze (yet). We're at 9F and dropping, but it's not supposed to drop to below 0 tonight.

I no longer have the farm and all those critters, but even when I did I was living in Florida and didn't have to deal with what you've got going on!

Revised forecast: no snow tomorrow, but 9 mm of rain. But a little of that may occur when the temp is still below 0, which would produce icy roads. The temperature will cross 0 at noon tomorrow.

I'm still in bed, but will get up shortly to wash the pot with water from the dispenser.

Just got to work. -6F and windchill is -30F.

And, of course, blowing and drifting snow. Took me almost an hour to get to work (usually takes a half hour).

Thank God for 4WD.

Thankfully no tailgaters this morning!

As an aside--I've been parking in the driveway across the street (a vacant house). And, though it's been a pain shoveling it, it has saved my Jeep.

I live on a hill, and usually that is where I park. Well, in the winter, cars have a hard time going up and down the hill (especially up). So prior to his driveway I'd park the next block over.

Anyway--tonight three cars got stuck within 10 minutes on this hill, and they slid right into the snowbank in front of my apartment (where I normally would park).

What really gets me though, is that these cars will try for 10 or 15 minutes to get up that hill instead of backing up half-a-block and going around.

Within the next 24 hours, a new storm is to move in. Temps will remain single digits; rain, sleet, freezing rain, and -- wait for it: MORE SNOW !!!

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
