Is it just me or do the lads really need to re-evaluate the way they make email addresses which just don't make sense like the old Charles Soludo scam, a doubt a high ranking official have an email address like
It's the AOL part which makes me laugh. Or they have a really specific email address like if they want you to speak to their barrister, Jon Kolawole, his email would be something like
Is supposed to try and be convincing or is it just the lads not thinking? |

In some cases it's just them hoping to appear more legit like when they use [email protected]
The ones I've dealt with I think play on the hopes that a victim will only read the first part of the email address. Sadly, some people do still fall for it. |

Well, it's also kind of the nature of a 419 scam, MuguHunter.
In real life, Charles Soludo would be mailing from a nigeria.gov email addy, Barack Obama would be mailing from a whitehouse.gov addy, and a high-ranking official from Citibank would be emailing from a citibank.com addy. Lads don't have access to those domains so they do the best they can with what they have.
Remember -- 99.9% of the folks who get those emails read them, chuckle at the transparency of the scam, and then move on with their lives. The lads aren't looking to convince them -- just the folks who would believe that a UN official came into a crap-ton of money, reached out to them (and only them) and offered to share the windfall. |
