What device do you use for scam baiting?

Just of curiosity, what devices do other scam baiters use for baiting? , for example. Use a Samsung Galaxy Tab III with an app which lets me combine all my character inboxes into one inbox to make it easier to check for mugu replies.

since gmail only hides the IP, if the user uses the web-interface, most baiters don't use such devices (or if they do, they still use the web-interface).

on the other hand, most lads won't recognize an IP, even if it bites them into their butts Wink

(and moreover, they can't do IP-tracking).

something completely else is phone-baiting. if the provider offers a good rate, or if they use skype on the mobile phone, it works wonders.

for phone baiting, I use my old yet trustworthy nokia 9300 Smile

I use a PC most of the time with a RL session and a Baiter Session so I don't get confused. I also use a Laptop to Bait with if I'm travelling. Both machines are presently Win 7.

Besides, I don't have a cell phone/smart phone/tablet.

New to all this and was going to use an old Android tablet (nexus 10) and a gmail account with it. I have rooted it and factory reset it and it will only be used for baiting, if I can only get a bite that would be good.

I hate typing long messages, emails etc on anything other than a keyboard. When I worked I worked with quite a few computer systems I used whilst doing the job and so I think I am just so used to a keyboard.

However, this laptop is cranky and old... (the laptop, that wasn't about me ! ).
My New Years Resolution is to win a nice new one. I won an ipad mini this year and I love it but not for this sort of thing. I had a good laptop and it fried itself...so back to this slow, awful, annoying machine.

Doesn't a tablet use locations etc though for Facebook?

no other purpose. it's quite nice to be able to send sms (full keyboard), or be available for lads on the phone (and 5 cent to nigeria is fine). had one scammer, who talked to me for over one hour in total (several calls). I then looked up his plan, and he spent quite a few € on those calls.

TheDane- I ws curious to see in this tech savvy age the sort of devices people use as in the 11 or so yearssince this site was founded we have moved past the trusty old PC which was likely the mainly the main stay of scambaiters until a couple of years ago. That clear it up for you?????

You're the only other person I know beside me that doesn't have a cell phone! My fiancé has one, but it's old and a pay as you go phone. We put 15.00 on it and that lasts him a month.

I use a laptop, dual boot Win 8.1 Professional and Win7 professional. Like Big Al, I have a log in for my baiter stuff and a log in for most everything else.

I mostly use my PC for baiting. I have use a different browser (Pale Moon) for baiting which has the xnotifer addon installed which automatically checks all my accounts for responses. I sometimes use my laptop for baiting. Both my computers have Linux (Mint on my desktop, PCLinuxOS on my laptop) installed.

I mainly use an old Win 7 laptop that is only used for baiting, but sometimes use my Android phone to check my emails (through the web interface as I don't want them linked to my RL accounts in Gmail) and as a hotspot for the laptop when no wifi is available.

There's a really interesting mix in what baiters use, I've downloaded a separate app on my android tablet which combines the emails of all my characters into one inbox, so I don't have to log into each one separately, besides my tablet is a small 7inch Samsung galaxy tab so it is portable and I can bait even away from wifi zone at home.

I'm just using my Windows 7 laptop currently. I try not to link anything bait-related to my S3, otherwise I'll be on it 24/7.

I use a Linux laptop. I've taken it cross-country and baited there.

keep it ringing doesn't cost anything for them. but a 10 minutes call, where the lad has to explain everything, that costs. it annoys the lads paying for the calls, yet it convinces them that they have their victim really hooked. and since hooking works both ways, the lad is automatically hooked aswell.

the only disadvantage: the phone can't record calls (there are apps for it, but I never found a working download, and they want to send a beep every 30 seconds.

I use my laptop and a PC for baiting. I wouldn't trust using my tablet or phone since they are both linked to my business and my school. I've turned off the location permissions (I hate those), but I wouldn't like him to find out who I am because of my school. It's a small private college...likely wouldn't take too long to figure it out.

I want Robert's phone. It looks like something out of the 90's. lol Meanwhile, I use my Mac for most of my baiting. I have a Galaxy which I do not do much baiting on because I prefer using my keyboard. For those of you who do use your mobile devices, you can run a VPN program on them and get around the issue of Gmail, etc. giving away your location.

It's really not important as baiting is platform-independent. It's brain on brain most days. The computer is just a pipe between them.
FTR I use a W7PRO laptop and an iPhone for general work, a cheapo Nokia for phone heavy baits and a Linux laptop for investigating odd sites. All except the Nokia run a VPN service for security or IP spoofing.
