I've just discovered this and I'm preatty amazed about how much people is doing this. In fact, I tought this web would be old and dead.
I apology myself if my English is not the best, is my second language.

I live in South America (and here it's not so common to know about scammers)
About me, I'm a girl who likes to piss off stupid people, and I discovered scammers like 2 or 3 years ago. I've been wasting their time every chance I got (like 5 so far), and I even got some photos sent by one of them, holding a written paper XD

Right now I'm in a funny scambait, and I'll post it when it's finished in the forum.
So... hi everyone, now I will check some threads, and I'm happy this is active nowadays!

Bem-vinda/Bienvenida/Welcome to Eater! I have a published bait in Spanish and one in Portuguese I'm in the process of translating. It's pretty difficult to translate intentionally messed-up Portuguese, on my side, and Portuguese machine-translated from badly written English, on the lad's, so that the English reader feels the same awkwardness of the language.

Are you baiting safely? Do you have a mentor?

I think I'm scambaiting saftely yes. I have to confess that in past, I've done from my current mail twice, and from my 2 facebooks account (none of them have my real name, or have public things to whom are not my friends, and of course I've not send them anything real about me never.

I can read and write in english pretty well, but when is about pronuntiation... I'm like a cavemen hahaha, but in fact, spanish is a complicate language to learn!

As a verb, is "hostigar", pissing somebody off

I think that by "seguro cebo" El Burro Guapo meant "bait safe", which should be "bait safely". There is a verb "cebar", meaning to bait a hook. But to bait bulls is hostigarlos. (This was a sport in which dogs approached a bull and bit him on the nose until he's pissed off.) We pretend to be victims, as bait pretends to be food, but we try to keep them busy with non-paying baiting characters until, sometimes, we get death threats. So I'm not sure which verb is right for scambaiting!

I learnt a little Spanish working in South America but had no idea what the word was for bait. Think Google translator didn't realise I meant baiting 419 scammers and just assumed I was going fishing.

In the past I've had tremendous success baiting as a Russian female who speaks very bad English. It was trickier when we spoke on the phone but he must have been turned on by girls with a deep voice.

Your language and sex isn't a disadvantage. In fact you can use it to your advantage.

I guess that means "look out for the Finnish, They talk funny"... I am right? If so, whe have something similar in spanish, separating into syllables and adding other letters. Razz

A baiter called "Bruin" has an excellent and very effective "modality" named "wimp".

Perfectly translated! We call it "pig latin", and I suspect just about all languages have this silly code speak. The Finnish just have 1,000 times more ways of expressing it... Shocked

I used the female character in one of my most successful baits under another nickname. I tend to set up standard messages that fit most kinds of scam and then I just copy a paste different replies out with some quirky information to see if the scammer bites. I then choose which one oops interesting for m to bait.

I don't bait one scammer. I bait them all but choose the ones who look interesting and likely to provide fun and amusement.

If a scammer bores me I throw him away and concentrate on the fun ones.
