Hey all,

Apologies if this is the wrong section to post in, please feel free to let me know if there is a better thread for this. Basically, I noticed yesterday that a scammer was viewing my dating profile. He had his city the same as mine. I browsed his profile and noticed he put he was straight (as am I), so I was wondering WHY he would be creeping my profile since I'm a male.

I did a reverse image search and found other links to him on the net. He used the same pictures and name but his actual city was Nigeria (surprise). I'm slightly concerned because I'm wondering why he was looking at me? My profile and pics are highly rated, is it possible he was saving my pics to create his own fake profile to use in romance scams?? Ugh.

Thanks for any insight.

Block him. Ignore him. Move on. Nothing to do. Don't try to bait him.

Shmuckers -- please tell me that the scammer was viewing your *baiting* dating profile and not a real profile. If a scammer knows your real identity and was able to find an online profile, this is very serious.

I haven't baited in a longggggggggggg time, we're talking years, and I keep baiting and real-life totally seperate. Yes, some random scammer randomly viewed my real dating profile. Its not revealing at all minus my pic. No real name, address, or anything else. My only concern is that he *might* save the pic and use it somewhere else for a romance scam.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did steal your info along with your pictures. I hope that is not the case, but when you post your pictures on the internet they are ripe for anyone to come along and steal them for their own purposes. Nothing is safe on the internet. Sadly, you'll never know if he is using them to scam others.

It makes me sick to think that he might use my pics to scam someone. I already e-mailed the site in hopes of having his profile taken down. By highly rated I mean my pics have received lots of "likes" from other people, hence I will show up more often in someone's search. Which probably made it easier for this scamming douche to randomly find me.

Again, I'm not concerned at all about him using my info, because there is no real-life info there. Its just my picture I'm worried about. And even though he's in Nigeria I'm not willing to bait him.

You might periodically do a Google image search of some of your profile photos to see if they are popping up at dating sites. Don't actively try to get the profiles taken down. Better to report them at ScamWarners so we know they are fakers.
