Tururut and I both speak Romance languages. Several days ago he gave me a loan lad script in French and I started baiting. It's at https://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=91845 . I showed it to the new French baiter, who said it doesn't make sense in French and must have been translated. "ferraille d'été" (scrap iron of summer) makes no sense in French, but makes no sense in English either. In Spanish, though, "été" (which also means "been") could have been translated from "estado", which also means "state", which I can imagine making sense. I still haven't figured out what "ferraille" is supposed to be, but I'm pretty sure it was translated from Spanish or Portuguese. This would explain the relative lack of mangled grammar compared to something translated from English.

So the bait's been going on, and both Perin (or Perrin) and the bank (Credit Mututel) have been sending me message with "tenir" (hold) used in an un-French way, meaning "have to" or something. The Spanish and Portuguese cognates have taken over some functions of "haber" (have).

This morning, having sent the bank a transfer confirmation, I got the following:

"voire" (nay) is a French typo, not a French translation of a Spanish typo, and "içi" isn't a possible French word (although it is an archaic spelling). The punctuation is also clearly West African. I conclude, therefore, that I've been passed from a lad who immigrated from Equatorial Guinea or Angola to a native Béninois who speaks French but doesn't know how to spell right.

My French is only school level, but I would put money on "içi" being the word for "here", and "voire" is the infinitive form of "see" rather than "nay".
