edit.... added as this is an uncommon modality. Apologies if this is painfully obvious: This is is a phony donation scheme based on a real event. You've likely seen this before, for example, lads sending out pleas for money to help house victims of hurricane katrina. The idea is a simple and effective one: take an emotionally charged event and use it to play on your sympathy, affect your decision making, get your money.

Replied to an ASEM forwarded to me by Goat. The response was.... surprising, especially as I was using a new email account. The account is similar to my Yahoo IM & Tagged ID so thinking perhaps the lad recognized it and it's someone I've talked to before?

I never told you that i am looking for money to fight BOKO HARAM, What i wrote is if you can understand English very well is that we need money to help those displaced by BOKO HARAM.

Government has money to fight its war with BOKO HARAM after all they are the cause of it

By forcing people to go against their wish is a sin, you cannot force somebody to do your bidding by following you in your religion.

You should also remember that no religion preaches violence, we have to tolerate one another and live in peace and harmony with your neighbor.

By forcing those girls to stop schooling and get married is a capital sin between man and God, i want you to understand that.

You should stop killing people and ask God for forgiveness of sins.

May God have mercy on your soul.

At a glance, it looks like this may be an ITP. While not a conventional means of asking for help to assist those affected by the Boko Harem, it doesn't outright appear to be AFF. It could very well turn out to be a lad piggybacking a tragic situation to make money, but I'd tread lightly until proof of fraud can be found.

It was sent to me by Goat with a request to give them some love. I have seen this script before, the name is familiar, and the lad asks for money (twice). Also, when I searched the lad's email the first response was a scam email repository. What about this makes you think they're not a lad?

I'm not saying that you shouldn't bait them, Padme. I've got every confidence in your judgement. I was just saying, from the evidence presented in your first post, that I would need more proof of a scam to continue the bait. Smile

Well, now that you've mentioned researching the email addy, I'd say there's a pretty good chance that it is a lad.

It's a scam. They are asking for assistance but the donations go to the scammer. Versions of the script have been floating around since shortly after the women in Chibok were kidnapped earlier this year. It's not a common modality but it's out there.

That is the funny part. My email address (not a jokey/silly address) is similar to my yahoo address. I think I've run into this lad before. If you look at my first reply it's rather standard and polite. Their reply back, if they were replying to a random person, makes no sense. Who replies to, please tell me more of your organization, with rage?
