Hi gang

Is this cobblers when a lad says they have been the bank and they need a swift copy / code ?

Do they have online banking like in the uk / usa ?

How likely is there bank to be local will they need to go on the bus etc ?

Why i am asking is i hope this is a massive inconvenience for a "lad" as once i get a piggy i could really mess them about going back and two like this lad claims to do seeing if his wad has gone in .

Most parts of the world have online and mobile banking if they have internet.

Don't fully understand your question reverand,

but SWIFT (or BIC) code is like a routing number. It identifies either a specific branch of a bank, or just a bank in general. Mostly used in combination with IBAN bank account numbers.

ISO 9362 Swift Codes are needed for international transactions, they are used when transferring money between banks and other Financial Institutions , particularly for international wire transfers,

Basically the lad asked for a swift code as the fake receipt he took in didnt have one on it .

Looks like i will have to make him go to the bank again with a swift code before the penny finally drops there is no wonga

The Banks I use are all real. Real Bank, real address, real swift code.

Once and only once was I challenged about a Bank account being fake so I got very defensive. My characters all have a page... name, address, DOB, Bank details, including swift code, I just make up a fictional Bank Account number, work details etc.

I use One Note online and so takes two seconds to just pop there and all my person's details are there. I still put the American Bank of PyongYang in occasionally because I like to. But mainly I give them nothing to catch me on.

Don't know if I am wrong in doing this... just works for me.

Always ask your mugu to explain swift codes to you (even if you already understand them). He needs to explain the concept to you. Twice.

If you're using a bank you made up, make a four-letter abbreviation of the bank's name, add the two-letter country code, then add enough letters or numbers so that the total length is 8 or 11. My first SWIFT code I made by taking the species name of a swift and appending two digits, then making up a bank name of which the first four letters are a plausible abbreviation. This put the bank in Montenegro, not the USA, so I often throw a mangled Slavic error message at the lads and ask them what it means. It may be a swift code, but the lads swallow it anyway Smile
