Wooo Hooo – I’ve just got myself a sandtimer!

On 28th September 2013, I started baiting a Lad from Togo, G4bby Lucky (perhaps to be better known as the Luckless One). My character is a chaotic, scatter brained female art student who seems to have knack for failing to follow instructions and walking into unfortunate situations. The Unlucky One has suffered failures and disasters but still seems to fervently believe in my character. He has endured closed bank accounts, corrupt WU officials, the torment of securing 5PTS payments, has wandered the streets of Lome looking for non-existent Afric4RSE couriers and has had his dollar chopped by a jealous ex-boyfriend (oops! silly me - that bit hasn't happened yet!). He has constantly been frustrated by my character’s inability to do anything right but has taken time to provide life advice and guidance like some benevolent uncle. To cap it all he has just chosen to mark our anniversary by coughing up another bank account!

Despite a year of setbacks, this persistent Lad does not show any signs of tiring and the bait seems to run and run. He was one of my first Lads and has been an excellent proving ground for so many straight baiting modalities.

If you have been baiting him without a break for 12 continuous months, then I'd say you have earned a Sandtimer. Well Done!

Great job getting the sandtimer! Keeping a lad on the hook for an entire year is not easy. Doing it with just one character is even more challenging.

Thanks TM and Big X. If I am honest, I am quite surprised that it has run for so long. I have played it very steadily and made a point of making him wait a day or two for a reply to each email and of course a student is more interested in partying than checking emails on a daily basis (he has reprimanded me several times for that!). In essence I think he is completely taken in by my character and really believes that she is as shambolic as it appears.

At one point after she couldn't get money through to him (yet again) he asked to be sent an IPad instead. So I gently built him up to a scenario where she was going to buy the ipad from a dodgy guy at the local pub. The increasing alarm in my Lads emails urging caution and the eventual despair when the inevitable happened when she found she had paid £300 for a block of wood!

Did you meet your friend you told me you are meeting? You are delaying this transaction, you don’t longer reply fast to my mail. Did the Bank contact you or you have contacted the Bank? If you have someone you trusted so much and the person is older than you urgently let me know.

Dearest i don’t really know what is going on. I have been waiting for the company to call me they have not yet call me and i have also contacted them on their website but no respond yet.

Don’t mind them, they have not called me and I don’t know their head office. If it was DHL I could have received the package without any problem or delay, the post office which you use is very poor in communication.

Don’t send the money through that post anymore because it takes a lot of days to arrive here.

Please dont send the money to me throgh that post again i dont like it please. Dearest beloved go to another Money gram office not the same money gram you went before. The Bank Manager called me this morning and he was not happy with us on how we have been delaying this transaction.

What type of security system is the money gram is using? All over the world there's no security system in money gram. I am not here to joke with you STOP delaying this transaction.

I don’t know why your country is so difficult in sending money out. I have not yet received the money and they have not contacted me yet. Go back and get your money from them immediately, if they fail to give you back your money you can call police to arrest them or inform your family.

I hope you will listen to my advice? It will really help you ok. I am not happy with you I must tell you the truth, you have been delaying this business for a very long time now. By now we will be enjoying our success.

I am not happy with you because you have cause a lot of delay in this business and I have received a lot of harassment from the Bank directors just because of you. Every time I keep making promise to the bank manager just because of you, I am not happy because you are not standing by your words.

Make sure you dont make any mistake this time, write down the information which i gave to you when going to the bank.

Congratulations, Hallstaff! Sandtimers are vey underrated trophies, and to have achieved one through straight-baiting with a single character is a signficant achievement.
