Is everyone else seeing a shift to an immediate demand for money right in the original spam? It used to be that this was rare, but now it's pretty much every single one.
Have the lads raised the level of lazy to new heights?
Sure seems like they're missing some potential victims by skipping the get-to-know-and-trust-me phase. |

Mail 1000 people asking for $50 and if 10 are naive enough to send it you've made $500. Compare that with the work and time involved in persuading 1 person to send $500. |

Yep, I've noticed it, too. I took most of the summer off due RL being busy and I come back to a catcher account full of lad emails spilling their story then asking for money right then and there. I'm having a hard time finding good ones to bait.
Maybe I'll invest in some brain bleach and give romance lads a try. |

Benin Lads are the leaders in this method.
I'd say that in excess of 90% of the AFF mails I get are Benonois pay-now scripts, and it's rare to get even a single response to a baiter reply. |

Aye. This. And the fact that $500 is a huge lot of money in, say, Benin where this seems to originate the most as Yastreb says. Not too long ago I watched a short documentary about Benin where some local said she owed a priest 200£ (some $340) and I don't remember exactly how big the proportion was, but it was said to be more than what she and many other locals earned in many months, perhaps even almost a year's worth of income. So asking for seemingly small sums is worth it even if you end up still getting only a few hundreds of dollars in the end. |
