Just joined up as in the last couple of days as I received a message through FB from an unkown advising they wanted to chat. This was swiftly followed a email address being sent to me, presumably before FB closes down the profile.

This particular con person friended one of my friends which allows them to message me as my privacy settings are pretty high.

So I thought I woukld roll with this one, I'm on email 2 now with this person who call herself 'Becky'

Poor Becky has had a hard life with her parents being shot and her living on a refugee camp.

We are at the stage now of being asked for personal information and photos as well (clearly this won't be happening with my proper details).

I will look around the site before proceeding but would be happy for someone to take over from me or inform me of what to write back.

I will copy/paste the emails later, but it's the usual refugee camp in Dakar Senegal and her fathers statement of account and death certificate indicates $3.7 transfer. Rolling Eyes

Waitwaitwait: so this lad knows your real profile from your friend's real profile and that's what you are using to communicate, do I get this right?

Because if that's the case: drop him. Never bait a lad with your real life details. And preferably not a lad connected (at least like this) to someone you know from real life either. Safety is the rule number one around these parts and for a good reason.

Hi and Welcome to Eater! First thing-please stop all contact with this scammer-you are baiting from an account that has your real life information: this isn't safe. I don't know your settings, but this lad (and it's almost certainly a "he") now knows your FB name and may have access to your photos and certainly your friends.

There are lots of lads out there-please drop this one, make a shiny new Gmail with none of your real life info and start from there. Spare lads are also kept in Surplus Letters as well. Please read the Stickies-lots more information about Safe Baiting and other helpful info. You may also want to a apply for a mentor who can help you through the tricky parts.

I would like to bait some of these low lifes, but absolutely right, he may of associated my email with FB ID.

I'll do some more reading up first.
