Simply put they are worthless to a scammer and this was only done in case he started checking their validity.... if he even knows how to do that. I do have a question - I tended to think those spam mails offering mailers, etc. were scams targeted at 419'ers themselves. Am I wrong in that respect?

^ It really depends. Some of those guys are just trying to target scammers and take their money. Others are dead serious and actually selling the supplies. Another thing to keep in mind here as well is whether they are actually selling the supplies or not you are dealing with criminals and they may well just run off with the money even if they have what they are offering. There is no honor among thieves. Smile

That said and trying to answer this carefully..... if you ever bait one of those lads here is how you can call their bluff. Ask them for screen shots of the tools they are selling as proof or even ask the lad to go on Team Viewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) to look at his tools. Another option would be to use skype and to have the lad do a shared screen in call so he can show off what he has for market. Team Viewer while not malicious allows remote computer access with the user permission at both ends (e.g. does not allow unauthorized access to remote computers). I'm not sure how the forum rules would apply to something like Team Viewer as it is legitimate software for IT support that allows remote access to a computer and only with permission given from the other user whose computer is being remotely accessed. I even use it at work to provide support to computers halfway around the world when people in my company run into computer problems live on the job. It is definitely more of a professional grade software when it comes to remote access.

.... but you would be shocked at how many of them have the actual tools. Thinking about it that would make for a good ethics thread or question. Either way don't do anything malicious etc etc.

Multiple places SBAH. Part of my job has put me in a lot of countries where English is not the primary language and I have some speech disabilities as well. You learn to understand and communicate in those situations really quickly or you don't make it very far. So part of it is experience.
