Given scammers' creative use of all possible ways to reel in victims I am surprised I haven't seen more scammers using twitter to try and lure potential contacts. I've seen an old scammer friend try spamming "Make money fast" type stuff on twitter but nothing of our usual fraud introductions.

Anyone have any examples of lads using twitter to get things going? Obviously their formats would need to be short but there's plenty of precedent for short email formats ("Contact me to receive your fund" etc).

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place??

It could be fun to bait, however....

Edit to add>>>

If I ever come across one who is already aware of Twitter (I don't want to educate them otherwise) I think my goal will be to get an entire bait into that format. Laughing

I think the main difficulty would lie in sending the initial script out. It would be hard to do a mail bomb with twitter. You would reach the daily limit v quickly.

One of my lads was using a Twitter account in combination with Facebook to get scams going (helping some orphaned young woman with an inheritance). He'd patiently make innocent comments to you on Facebook before moving you over to email.

The Tweets were something like: "I have a friend who is looking for a contact" - or "Friend needs help" or even more general comments, designed solely to open the door for becoming Facebook friends. Both the Twitter and Facebook were a supposed third party, who would eventually pass you over to the "friend".
