Hello!

I would like to know your opinion about a "possible" scammer.
2 years ago I got an email which said that I won an US greencard and that I should contact someone by telephone and paying a fee etc..
I thought that was kind of funny, therefore I called this person (a Thailand mobile phone number) and talked to him. It was kind of strange, because he or she didn't talk much about the greencard, actually he or she only used bad words and wanted to know why I am calling, although I told him.
I don't know if this person is male or female, because the person used something like voice changer, at least it sounds like that.

Anyway 1 year later, I got the same funny e-mail with a new "expiration deadline for the greencard", but the phone number was new, but still a Thai mobile phone number.
When I called this number, it was the same person and the old phone number was out of service.

Some months ago I got the latest e-mail, again with a new Thai phone number and the same person was on the phone again and this time he/she told me that this is a police number and police department.
I personally believe this a joke, because this person doesn't understand any word in Thai and a police department without the knowledge of the Thai language would be kind of strange and I also think people who work at a police department don't use voice changer.

Anyway, I still think it's very strange, because when someone receives a scam e-mail with a telephone number and it says that you should contact this person, then this person usually should try to make you believe that the greencard story is true, right?

Another possiblity might be that this person has nothing to do with the scam e-mail, but in this case it would be confuse, because he/she always had the new phone number of this scam e-mails.

Welcome. Definitely a scam of some kind, they will want processing fees or some such. It could just be that this is a really crap scammer. Many are.

Our standard advice holds true though, if they approached you in your real life capacity, leave them well alone. Just stop talking to them and ignore anything they say. They will give up after a while and leave you alone.

Rather than calling can you reply to the email (from an anonymous address, safety first)? You might get a little more action there...

Actually I did try that, but the e-mail addresses were either out of service or just no answer at all. They offered 2 emails and the phone number.

Did you enter the US State Departments annual lottery through the Diversity Immigrant Program? If not, you could not have won a green card lottery. Just like the lottery scam emails we all get, if you don't enter, you can't win.

Nailgunner is right. You should stop all contact with these people.
