When I'm reading the posted baits in the forum, sometimes I see that scammers send something called "withdrawal letter".

Think as I might, I can't think of a good reason what would be the purpose of these "letters". Someone shine me a lightbulb?

I see the "withdrawal letter" as a tactic to make the maga think he's going to lose the money and make him more pliable.

I've had some great arguments with Lads about them!

It can also be a way to sort of "reboot" a scam, if the victim is difficult - withdrawal mail is sent & then a different scam character takes over. Again, trying to focus the victim on the prize.
