how secure is gmail

I have been having issues with proxy servers and sent one email using my ip. I did email myself and checked the email header and my ip did not match the senders email. I also tried to track my gmail ip and cam up NA. should i trust the gmail ip if my lads figures out I am a baiter.

If you send via Gmail using a web browser, your IP address does not appear in the mail. If you used SMTP and slipped once, it's unlikely that the lad noticed. If the lad did find your IP address in the headers, and you have a dynamically assigned address (even if it changes only once a year), it's unlikely that he has any way of finding out where you are.

And even then the IP address is likely to show a city, not a single house and a single room and a wardrobe in the room, and a secret panel in the wardrobe which takes you to your standard issue secret baiter cave.

Please go to http://www.ip-tracker.org/ or something similar and track your own IP wilst not using a proxy. As duckling said you are likely to end up anywhere form a mile to 50 miles off your real location. And should it be the right one it is only chance. IP tracers are very inaccurate.
And this is what the lad is gonna see if everything goes wrong. From you using the wrong email provider to the lad actually having the knowledge and incentive to go look for your IP.

So yes you are safe. And if he want your real address he needs to go to the court in your country to have them get order your internet provider to give him your location, they wont do it even if he asks nicely without it. This is of course out of the question for your lad. Both because he wont get it and because he won't know how to get it.

And to top it of, lads are businessmen (in a manner). And if there is no economy in something they won't do it. This includes come and get you. This would be a cost for them instead of an income and thus interesting.

So if it is fear of lads that is holding you back, it really shouldn't. Baiting is safe if done correctly.

Just to add to the others: Lad may try to intimidate you in one way or other. He may even have some convincing information about you or may come up with stuff he pretends to use in court of law and may even send convincing documents about it or perhaps even a phone call. Only thing you need to know is that lad is doing this for money. If he can get money out of this then he can do all kinds of things. If not he isn't going to do anything.

That being said: If you live near a large number of Nigerian/West African immigrants then there is a real possibility that some of them have connections to 419 scammers or have scammed before moving. These people might come after you if you allow them to know where you live or who you are. If they live near you then they might turn that hitlad ect. scam into a real blackmail.

I wasnt affraid of getting found, I was not threatened I just wasnt finished with the lad yet and may have slipped a bit and he noticed I was going to try and rebound but I noticed my ip was from a different state that I said I lived in. I figured if he got suspicious he would check on that. but he wont respond anymore so I moved on.
