Well the ugliest sky scraper i have ever seen has melted parts of a jaguar !!!

id be more worried about a jag melting than the building that may have caused it ......

Yikes!!

There's a casino in Las Vegas with a problem. Burned plastic, badly sunburned folks at the pool, and people's hair burning:

I approve. Urban solar furnaces are the way to go. We'll start with Jags, then work our way up to Lexuses.
This improved design should do nicely.

Now you don't have to torch your car for the insurance. All you have to do is park it in the right spot.

@dwatina: Yikes! Last time we went to Vegas we stayed at the Monte Carlo, just next to City Centre, where the Vdara is located. Next trip we stay at MGM Grand.

the curve of the building looks like a section of a paraboloid which will provide a perfect focusing effect, just like a satellite dish or the mirror on a Cassegrain telescope. You can count on 750 watts per square meter of solar radiation landing on the building, so with an estimated 5000 square meters of windows, reflecting 50% of the energy that hits them, that's about 1.8 megawatts of solar radiation being focussed into a spot the size of a small garden. I'm actually surprised nobody's house got burned down.
