I went down Thursday afternoon, the campsite was full by early Friday, with people being put on the grass verges.
Friday is practice day and time for Cropper's annual 'How far can I get without a paddock pass?' challenge. As you can't buy a pass for the MotoGP paddock, everyone has a barcode pass and is scanned in and out, it's not stealing. Made it in OK, high adrenaline. One year at Donington I watched the 125 race from the Family and Sponsors Grandstand on the startline, sat behind Bradley Smith's family.
Here are the people on the outside of the fence, where I was supposed to be, looking in at Rossi's motorhome - his scooter is in the foreground.
Rossi's motorhome, he was in there somewhere.
Ducati hospitality, it's 2 stories and must be made of several trucks.
Marc and Dani have lunch:
Eventually a security guy outside the Yamaha race truck clocked I had no pass on a lanyard like everyone else, but I'd seen everything by then and self ejected. He was very interested how I got in, but I'm not saying as I'll try it again next year. 
British hopes Crutchlow and Smith:
Sadly Cal binned it 3 times, including one at 180mph, so was riding hurt.
A couple of Marquez hanging off like a demented gibbon. he's 20 and a rookie, but leads the championship.
ETA: You can just see he has got his elbow down as well as his knee in the next one.
A mad cyclist:
Race day I was at the last corner, which turned out to be a good choice, so no startline totty pics this year. 
Moto2:
A Brit, Scott Reading leads the championship and won the race, which went down well.
Finally a sequence from the last corner on the last lap of the MotoGP race, where Marquez (who dislocated his collar bone Sunday morning) took the lead by force, only to lose it back to Lorenzo (blue Yamaha), who rode the wheels off a slower bike.
The crowd went suitably nuts. |
