What to do with this mess up?

Hey, so I had a bit of a question, what do you guys think? I have a lad who is a dying widow type, the whole sob story about trying to leave money for charity, yadda yadda. So I'm going with a straight bait, sent a couple of replies...normal enough.

So the lad sends me these supposed "official documents" from the lawyer who I'm supposed to contact next, the sworn affidavit and and the sworn oath, but this is where they messed up. You see, I gave my character a very distinct and juvenile name (I won't post it here because I'm not sure if this part of the forum is behind sign in), but on the supposed affidavit, they used someone elses' name entirely! Nothing remotely close to what I'm using!

Obviously a mistake on their part. So, what do you think I should do? If I point it out to the lad, would it be educating him to double check everything in the future? Or should I point it out and stall him for more time, to interrupt the script?

Oh, I would abuse him mercilessly. Chances are he's got a second victim going (let's hope it's another baiter) and got his signals crossed.

Remember rule #2, the lad is always wrong.

You could also either 1) bitch that his file won't open and have him put all the text in the body of an email or 2) just ignore the whole thing and move on.

Don't fill out the forms either way. Make the lad do the work.

Or assume the other identity maybe? Get the lad confused because he's suddenly talking to two of the same person... with any luck if the other is a genuine victim, he may drop both...

Happened to me also.

The "Banker" sends me a letter to a "Mr Thomas Hu4ng", a "UN employee" calls my male char "Sister", a "dying widow" sends her initial mail to me halfway during the bait with another addressee"...

I then ask them whether they are negotiating with another person and whether they are no longer interested in me.

When they are nicely hooked you can slap them heavily and demand an excuse and a convincing explanation.

I would say never point out mistakes to the lads, if they are doing that to you, it will help if they do the same to a real victim, perhaps alerting the victim to the fact that something dodgy is going on.. Laughing

Good to know...I think there was some confusion from some of though. I wasn't filling out any forms, this was the lads' "proof" that everything was legitimate.

I agree with you though Vampiremerchant, its best not to point it out. If he makes a mistake with me, a real victim might be exposed to the scam. Let's not make them too caution just to slap them around a bit, eh? Besides, I just started that bait.

Yes, we never educate a lad in his craft. Cars, car care, sex, travel, piloting, chemistry, parenting, immigration, religion, witchcraft, stock trading and drug use are things I educate my lads about.

I like to turn the dying widow scam around and solicit the millions for my church that is offering a gift of $10,000.00 USD to become a member. Ten million dollars means another thousand members joining the fold. BTW, anyone can join if they fill out a form and submit to the ritual.
