A fairly new site: lists lad email addresses. This could be a great resource except for one truly major flaw. Whoever is harvesting these emails is also putting in baiter email addies--or at least one: specifically one of mine.

That in itself wouldn't be bad but now fellow baiters are wasting time sending me bait emails and I am wasting time replying to let them know I'm not a guyman--or worse, thinking that I have a genuine angry lad on the line. Fortunately I've not yet gotten into a baiting exchange with a fellow baite...yet ...I hope. I also am hoping no baiter sends me malware! Exclamation

There seems to be no contact info on the site. The only means seems to be via the forums. I have signed up but gotten no login info as of yet.

If anyone knows who is behind this site, please have that person contact me via PM.

As for how my email got there I'm not sure, but this is what I suspect:

A week or so ago I got a typical lad format where the new idiot had entered his entire would-be victim list into the cc field rather than the bcc filed. This of course made every address visible to everyone else on the list.

Looking over the addresses I was very happy to see many obvious baiter gmail addresses; however, there were also many that might have been legit potential victimes. So, being the concietious sort, I sent a follow up BCC to everyone on the list with a greeting for fellow baiters and an explanation to potential victims that the preceeding email was a scam.

I suspect that the harvester simply grabbed scam subject lines from his or her catcher account and posted the sender list to the site with out looking at the content.

Excellent point. It's surely an innocent oversight by the webmaster but it needs to be fixed ASAP.

I'm the webmaster and would have appreciated you contacting me using the link on the site! If you could PM me your email address I'll check where on the site it is.

What happened was most likely that you emailed all the CC addresses, including the catcher's email address which means your email went straight on the site. This is hardly the fault of the site but I will remove the email once you actually link me to it on the site.

I do monitor the emails (the website is automated - how else could this volume of scam emails be efficiently posted and analyzed each day?) but must have missed this one out.

But I will emphasise that emailing every CC address is rather reckless!

I also used the scammed.by emails I however I think most baiters will recognize TWAT.

I had guessed as much.

I've found the email on your site that triggered it. Interestingly its only content fropm me is "?", which leads me to believe I must have done a "reply all" to a standard scam as the first salvo of a straight bait. So it was not one where I sent a warning as I had thought.

I am sorry I did not contact you though the link. As I noted above, I did not find a link on that site that I could use to contact you. Perhaps you have the contact link in a sub-link or sub-menu--I did not check every menu on the site beyond those I readily located. My apologies. You might want to make that link more obvious for old blind folk like me.

Thanks for your consideration--and also thanks for the site. It is a fantastically good idea. I am sure that it will be an excellent resource moving forward.

The contact link was under 'tools' because the navigation bar would otherwise have been to wide for lower screen resolutions.

I have added a separate button under the navigation bar now too
