I am baiting a love scammer whose IP address shows it to be Nigeria and yet the phone number he calls from goes to a Newport Beach California USA. And when I check my online phone calls it doesn't show as an incoming call with his number, it shows my number.

Can anyone help explain this. Is he actually in Nigeria with a cell phone with California area code? Or is he somehow routing his e-mail from California through Nigeria and back? He says he's from California and Italian.

I know he sounds Italian and I actually googled him again to double check that he was a scammer cos he sounded so real.

Could be a magic jack or VOIP number--I have seen several magic jacks in the past year or so, and a few VOIP's too.

They use Skype in numbers, and they can be from many countries

Magic Jack is a real problem with that. Maybe good for phone baiting as well? Anyone familiar with this thing?

I was hit up for Magic Jack when my scammer was trying to " make calls to the US so he could collect money from people who owed him" He was reluctant to give an address when I said I would ship it to him.
