Hello to everyone ...
I've perused this website on occasion for good entertainment ... but then something happend to my family that really hit home.
My grandmother got scammed ... and it wasn't for pennies either. The culprits? First a man from an African country .. then a fellow from Costa Rica and the last from Jamaica. We hardly had any idea that this was going on until we discovered some papers she had been hiding, as well as suspicious numbers on her caller ID. She had been using WU to send the money away.
The police got involved, but basically weren't able to do anything other than contact the local paper to do a story about seniors being scammed. It turns out she wasn't the only one. Oddly enough, despite having all of it explained to her numerous times, she still believes that these 'people' have money for her, which is quite frustrating.
So anyway, my hats off to you .... you'd never think it could happen to your family, and then it does.
Cheers |

Hi willycalvin and welcome to Eater. I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your grandmother and understand your frustration with her not being truly convinced of the con. It leaves her open to be scammed again. Please do read our sister site, http://www.ScamWarners.com. There is a ton of information on the forum there. You may not be able to convince her but you'll be armed with a lot of information that may help.
Thanks for taking the time to post, hope you'll stick around. |
